A cold night is expected across the Tennessee Valley. With a clear sky and winds out of the north, temperatures should easily fall into the upper 30s and lower 40s.
This latest round of below-average cold is thanks to our latest cold front that came through last night. That cold front was accompanied by plenty of rain for those that needed it the most. The Scottsboro airport recorded over 1.5″ of rain. Folks across NW Alabama saw significantly less.
Extreme drought conditions continue to plague and expand across NE Alabama so the rain was a welcome sight. Thanks to high pressure, we stay dry through the next couple of days.
Our next best chance of rain comes on Friday and Saturday ahead of yet another cold front. Early model runs indicate those across NE Alabama could get another good soaking which would put a solid dent in the drought, but wouldn’t fully end it.
