Job seekers invited to virtual hiring event

Local automotive manufacturers and suppliers continue with their large-scale virtual hiring events.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala — These events allow job seekers to connect with local employers and talk with hiring managers from a computer or mobile device. This way those who are searching can do so from the comfort and safety of their homes. 

The event is this Tuesday, April 13 from 10 to 11:30 am. 

Employers at tomorrow's event will include Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama, YKTA, and Bocar.

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) is actively hiring up to 4,000 employees for its world-class automotive facility being built in Huntsville/Limestone County. Starting wage is $17/hour. MTM has more than a dozen automotive suppliers supporting production, which is scheduled to begin in 2022.

"During COVID we spiked unemployment, you combine that with the large amounts of economic development projects that have been recruited to the region recently, and there's a lot of jobs that needed to be filled and there's a lot of people out there that need an opportunity to maybe need to climb that socio-economic ladder, have that next opportunity, not just to attain a job but an actual career they can move up with," said John Roberts, business retention and expansion director for the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber.
