The 'Pinta' is docked at Ditto Landing!

A life-sized replica of a ship that early explorers used has made its way to Rocket City!

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The 'Pinta' is a replica of Christopher Columbus' famous ship that he used for his explorations in 1492!

Ships like these - or rather 'caravels' like these, were used to explore the world for hundreds of years and you have the chance to hop on board!

This and the purpose behind this traveling replica is explained further by the Pinta's Captain, Stephen Sanger, "well here's an accurate replica of a Portuguese caravel - it was used by early explorers and Columbus, in particular, to open up the old to the new world. These ships were used over a few hundred-year periods and we travel around the country educating the people on the styles of the ships that were used and life back in the 15 century for the sailors."
