HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The 'Pinta' is a replica of Christopher Columbus' famous ship that he used for his explorations in 1492!
Ships like these - or rather 'caravels' like these, were used to explore the world for hundreds of years and you have the chance to hop on board!
This and the purpose behind this traveling replica is explained further by the Pinta's Captain, Stephen Sanger, "well here's an accurate replica of a Portuguese caravel - it was used by early explorers and Columbus, in particular, to open up the old to the new world. These ships were used over a few hundred-year periods and we travel around the country educating the people on the styles of the ships that were used and life back in the 15 century for the sailors."
The ship will be docked at Ditto Landing Marina, located at: 293 Ditto Landing Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803, and will be open every day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm from July 16 to July 25.
Admission charges are $6.50 for adults, $6.00 for seniors ages 60 and up and $5.50 for students ages 5-16. Children 4 and under are free - no reservations necessary!
