HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Julia Smith grew up in Macomb, MI, a suburb outside of Detroit. She was raised in a small Italian family, where learned how to cook, clean, and of course, have a great work ethic.

She spent most of her time dancing as a competitive dancer at Dancers Edge Studio, where she and her team earned three gold medals at the Dance World in Orlando, FL.

She attended the University of Alabama and graduated Cum Laude and the Honors College with a major in news media and a minor in political science.

At UA, she spent all four years working at WVUA 23 News, a commercial station where she reporter interned and part-time anchored. She gives all her gratitude to this station that prepared her for FOX54 News.

Smith is excited to learn more about Huntsville. When she is not at the station, she's at the dog park with her chocolate lab, Bo, eating at all the best spots, and enjoying time with loved ones. She also enjoys teaching dance at Southern Sensations.
