School evacuated due to pumpkin spice air freshener

5 people were taken to the hospital

A Baltimore high school was evacuated Thursday after students reported a "strange odor," which turned out to be a pumpkin spice air freshener.

USA Today reports the fire department's hazmat team arrived to the school Thursday afternoon, and staff and children were evaluated by EMTs. Five people were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

"It's always best to take precaution, call 911, let us--we are the experts--come in and make sure that everything is safe, so we have no problem with them making this call," fire chief Roman Clark said.
