Three men arrested for string of car burglaries in Florence

One suspect shot by Lauderdale County deputy during arrest

FLORENCE, Ala. - Three men are accused of breaking into more than a dozen vehicles in Florence.

Deandre Perry, Paul Hinkle and Sharmarie Crayton are each charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and property theft. Police said the men broke into at least 13 vehicles throughout Florence and Lauderdale County.

"It's in excess of $2,500 but like I said earlier we're still processing everything and we haven't completely taken in everything that was stolen," said Sgt. Wes Gargis.

During the arrest on Wednesday, police said Hinkle was shot by a sheriff's deputy after deputies tried to stop the truck they were driving. The Lauderdale County Sheriff department is investigating the shooting.
