Students from James Clemens High share their love for reading

Student-athletes take part in World Read Aloud Day

MADISON, Ala. - Thursday is World Read Aloud Day and some student-athletes from Madison City Schools took out some time to read to younger children.

60 high school students visited Heritage, Mill Creek, Columbia and Madison Elementary schools and read to students in Kindergarten through Second grades.

James Clemens Girls' Volleyball Team visited Columbia Elementary.

"The student athlete gets to share their love of reading with the children and then the children look up to them as role models, " said Laura Smith.

World Read Aloud Day is used as a method to keep children, teens and adults motivated about reading.
