UPDATES: School delays and closures for week of January 2nd

Some are schools are changing their schedules due to the cold temperatures expected this week

Albertville City Schools:
- ACS will have a two hour delay, Wednesday, January 3 - Friday, January 5, 2018 due to extremely cold temperature. Staff will report two hours later than usual.

Arab City Schools
- Arab City Schools will delay two hours for the remaining of the week due to extreme temperatures.

Colbert County Schools
- Due to extreme cold temperatures, all Colbert County Schools will delay start times until 10:00am on Thursday, January 4th and Friday, January 5th. Bus routes will run accordingly. 

Cullman County Schools
- Due to the extremely cold temperatures, Cullman Co Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay Thursday, Jan. 4 & Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. All school personnel report at normal times.

Decatur City Schools
- Two hour delay on Thursday. Schools will not serve breakfast and students should expect their buses to stop two hours later than normal.

DeKalb County Schools
- DeKalb County Schools and Buses will operate on a two hour delay January 3-5, 2018.

Franklin County (Alabama)
- Opening delayed two hours on Thursday and Friday (January 4th and 5th, 2018) due to inclement weather.

Guntersville City Schools:
- The Schools of Guntersville will observe a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 3rd through Friday, January 5th due to frigid temperatures 

Huntsville City Schools: 
- These changes remain in place through the remainder of the week.
- All elementary, middle, P-8, and junior high classes will begin at 10:00am, and doors will open at 9:00am for student drop-off.
- All high school classes will begin at 10:30am, and doors will open at 9:30am for student drop-off.
- Buses will run on a two-hour delayed schedule. Breakfast will be made available each morning.
- All elementary, middle and junior high teachers / staff may report to work at 9:00am. 
- All high school teachers / staff may report to work at 9:30am.  

Jackson County Schools
- Due to the prediction of extremely cold temperatures Jackson County Schools will be on a two hour delay on Thursday, January 4 and Friday, January 5. Employees will be on a one hour delay.

Limestone County Schools
- Based on the impact of extreme temperatures to our students, buildings and bus fleet all Limestone County Schools will be delayed two hours Thursday, January 4, 2018.

Lincoln County, TN Schools:
- Due to cold weather and flu outbreak, classes will resume on on Monday, January 8th.

Madison City Schools: This announcement comes from Superintendent Robby Parker:
- Thursday morning, January 4th, is going to be very cold. The forecast is for temperatures to be between 10 and 15 degrees with wind chills in the single digits when students are at bus stops. 

We are delaying the start of school 2 hours for Thursday:  pre-k 9:55 am, elementary 9:40 am, middle school 10:05 am, high school 10:15 am.

Buses will wait at each bus stop a little longer than normal.

I have asked each principal to have a lenient tardy policy in case a parent has to make alternative transportation plans.

If you, as a parent, do not feel comfortable having your child wait outside for the bus, and you have no other way for your child to get to school, please notify your principal and they will work with you on the absence.

Madison County Schools
- When students return to school on Thursday, January 4th, the Madison County School System will be operating on a 2-hour delay both Thursday, January 4th, and Friday, January 5th due to extremely cold temperatures and wind chill. This means bus pick-up schedules will be two hours later than normal - bundle up!

Marshall County Schools
- Marshall County Schools will be delayed 2 hours on Thursday, January 4, 2018, and Friday, January 5, 2018, due to the weather.

Morgan County Schools
- Due to inclement weather, all Morgan County Schools will be delayed two hours on Thursday, January 4th and Friday, January 5th. All schools will open and buses will run two hours later than their normal schedule.

All 12-month employees are to report at normal time as conditions allow.

Russellville City Schools
- Due to the prediction of extremely cold temperatures, Russellville City Schools will be delayed until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4 and Friday, January 5, 2018.   Buses will run 2 ½ hours late.
