Radiance Technologies, Inc. won the High Energy Laser Integration and Demonstration Support (HELIDS) effort for the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command / Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC / ARSTRAT). This is an approximately $50 million dollar contract award for five years with one option year.

The objective of the HELIDS effort is to integrate and demonstrate laser technologies to test and verify the performance of high energy laser components and subsystems. This effort will serve as a risk reduction effort to support the advancement and maturation of existing and emerging high energy laser technologies.

A key portion of the effort is the integration and subsequent demonstration of a 50 kW-class laser system on the High Energy Laser Mobile Test Truck that is providing knowledge points for the High Energy Laser Tactical Vehicle Demonstrator, an Army Capability Enabler.

“With this contract worth approximately $50 million dollars, Radiance will continue to support the USASMDC / ARSTRAT’s High Energy Laser Office as a trusted partner in the development of Directed Energy Systems that will one day support our soldiers on the battlefield,” says Jeff Johnson, Assistant Vice President Advanced Systems Engineering Services.

According to Johnson, Radiance has been a key member of the USASMDC / ARSTRAT’s High Energy Laser team for the past four years and has since developed a reputation as a Directed Energy company.

“This is our first competitive Design Development Demonstration and Integration (D3I) award,” says Bill Bailey, Radiance President. “This contract will certainly elevate Radiance’s position as a leader in the field of Directed Energy Systems.”
