Phone scammer in the Tennessee Valley

Marshall County officials warn residents of scammer

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. - We are receiving reports that a man is contacting people by telephone stating that he is from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and he advises the person receiving the call that they have missed a summons and is instructing people to go get a gift card with a specific amount of money loaded onto the card and to give him the card number.

He is also intimidating people by advising them that a warrant will be issued for their arrest if they do not comply.

This is a common scam that has been occurring in Alabama for months.

No law enforcement agency conducts business in that manner. Anyone that receives a call like this is encouraged to report it to your local law enforcement agency.
