A manhunt in Madison County ends after law enforcement find their suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.

There were two scenes involved in this case and it all started overnight in the 100 block of Oldwood Rd.

Neighbors woke up confused after hearing gunshots outside their home.

"My wife got up for work, the alarm went off. She heard what she thought was fireworks. We didn't think nothing of it," said Jonathon Bradford.

What Jonathon Bradford and his wife did not know at the time, his neighbor was shot and killed right across the street.

Bradford said, "As she left the officer said it looks like a homicide. I went back in and tried to call Charles, but he didn't answer."

Deputies say the gunman shot a man living in this home.

They searched for the shooter, thinking he ran away to another home on Oldwood Rd.

He was not there, but was found about 20 minutes away at a home on Brenna Lane.

Capt. Mike Salomonsky with Madison Co. Sheriff's Office said, "When we got there a SWAT unit approached as we approached the house and we made contact with our suspect, he then shot himself."

Investigators are looking into the motive.

Bradford tells me the victim lived in the home with his sister and son.

"Whenever I first moved in he come knocked on my door as soon as he moved in and introduced himself, he and his son, nice guy," said Bradford.

The suspect, who took his own life, has a history with law enforcement.

He's faced marijuana charges in the past according to Madison County Sheriff's Office.
