Morning house fire in Florence sends three to hospital

An early morning house fire in Florence on Hermitage Ave. sent three people to the hospital.

Cynthia Franks is the one who called Florence firefighters around 6:00 AM after smelling smoke.

When firefighters arrived, they found the kitchen and living room areas of the home fully involved.

When they made entry, they found Cynthia Franks and her grandparents, Yate and Joyce Studs still inside the home. They were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Cynthia Franks was treated and released, her grandparents remain hospitalized.

Allison Franks, the Studs' other granddaughter told WZDX,  "My grandmother was almost... she was basically know...they had to bring her back and she is doing ok. And my grandfather, they couldn't find him ...but they found him luckily and so they're both in the hospital. My aunt's doing good....and we're all just pretty much shaken up right now."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

According to the Florence Fire Department, the fire apparently started in the kitchen. One of the residents noticed smoke and called the fire department.

When the fire department arrived, they were able to bring out two more people.

Allison Franks, niece and granddaughter of the victims, says that her aunt, who called the fire department, is going to be released from the hospital, but her grandparents, who were rescued, remain there.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
