Inaugural Athens-Limestone County Fall Market this Saturday

Fall harvest event features farmers market, music, crafts, kids' activities

The Athens Saturday Market committee will hold its inaugural Fall market on October 14, 2017 at the Green Street Pavilion at 409 W. Green Street in Athens, AL.

Market Manager Kat Greene says that all ages will find something to enjoy at the Saturday Fall Market. "There will be produce and crafts, live music, kids’ activities, and the opportunity to just engage with the community." The market will take place from 8am until 12 noon.

The Old Friends Band will be the live music during this market. The band includes Larry Cole, Peggy Cole, and Jerry Fishback. They will play folk and country tunes alongside some original tracks.

Greene offers people plenty of reasons to come enjoy this new event. "In a time when you can order anything online with the click of a mouse, it is nice to slow down and make shopping an enjoyable experience. You can literally shake the hand that picked your produce or created your crafts."

Athens Saturday Market chair and Athens Main Street Board President Laurie Glenn says, “This special Saturday Market is designed to celebrate fall vegetables, decorations and activities. The Market Committee is thrilled to have one more opportunity to bring our growers, vendors, and customers together.”

Athens Main Street Executive Director Melanie Newton adds, “Athens Main Street is excited to host the inaugural Fall Market. This is a chance for the community to come together and to celebrate the Fall Harvest.”

The market committee is giving away two goodie bags, which include a market theme tote bag, dish towels, notepads, a Saturday Market t-shirt, and $10 in Market Bucks, before the big day. Enter on their Facebook page. The bags will be awarded on Friday, October 13th. You can also find more event information there.
