Florence City Schools gets new Superintendent

FLORENCE, Ala. - Florence native, Jimmy Shaw, was named the new School Superintendent for the City of Florence Schools at Thursday's meeting.

Shaw has been an administrator in the Florence school system since 2007.

He has played in a variety of roles. He has been a teacher, Assistant Principal, Director of Structural Assessment and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.

WZDX talked with Shaw prior to his appointment and he told us his background made him the right candidate to serve his community, and that he "...really wants to serve our district."

And, on Thursday night, he got that chance.
