Success with Science: Bricks 4 Kidz

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - One of the favorite toys from childhood are LEGO building blocks, and this summer your kids can learn the joys of building and creating their own LEGO projects at a special summer camp called Bricks 4 Kidz.  Each week of camp features a different theme in which camp goers will then get to build a model related to the theme, with the iconic plastic blocks.

"We build with all the technical pieces and then they move afterwards, so we can also say we're a pre robotics program, we have all the components of a robotics program, we just don't do the programming."

And since LEGOs are still such a popular toy... the kids don't even know that they're learning about the fundamentals of engineering and architecture.

"Children like to play with LEGOs to begin with so we slide the training of the teaching into them and they don't realize they're learning."

"I love to see how younger children and then older children... their separate ways of learning. It's so much fun because you don't know who's going to build this way or that way. It's fun to watch them and help them learn."

A week at this summer camp may significantly influence your child's career choice later on down the road. Just ask Kevin, he's an engineer!

"The development of spatial relationships in my mind of how to put them together, how to connect them, how to do that was very instrumental in my becoming an engineer."
