Cold temperatures remain, but relief is in sight

Extreme cold is all the talk in town, but the warmth is just around the corner

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Cold temperatures are on the minds of many right now, especially here in the Tennessee Valley.

The past few days have been the coldest in a years as we saw temperatures stay under the freezing mark for almost 100 hours.

The temperatures have not been everything though as strong winds have made it feel even cooler, even below zero at times.

Fortunately, here in the region we are looking at the light at the end of the tunnel.

The next few days will still be chilly as temperatures max out in the 20's and 30's, but by Sunday we will truly be feeling better as we sit closer to 50.

The average for this time of the year is just above 50, so after all this cold weather, it will be feeling warmer despite just more seasonal weather.

Until the 40's and 50's return though, just in time for traveling to Atlanta for the college National Championship game, make sure to play it smart by dressing appropriately for the weather.
