Both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots combine for more than $800 million

Folks cross the Alabama state line for chance to win the lottery

LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn. - Before Wednesday night's drawing both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots combined for more than $800 million dollars.

We'll soon find out if there is a winner in Wednesday's drawing.

Across the state line folks were out hoping to select the winning numbers.

Sam Thomas lives in Morgan County and made an hour drive to Fayetteville, Tennessee.

He wanted to try his luck at Wednesday night's Powerball, which is worth more than $400 million.

Thomas said, "We come up here to play the lottery."

Before trying his luck, Thomas walked around a lottery store's parking lot to catch a glimpse of the vehicles.

"Well it's not really surprising. The parking lot is full of Alabama tags, I see one Tennessee tag and the rest of them are Alabama tags," said Thomas.

He's for the state of Alabama making the lottery legal and says an Alabama lottery would save him time and keep revenue in the state.
