Granville Eastman out as AAMU's Defensive Coordinator; Kienus Boulware promoted

Kienus Boulware will take over as AAMU's defensive coordinator. He replaces Granville Eastman, who spent three seasons on "The Hill" in that same role.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Granville Eastman has been relieved of his duties as the Defensive Coordinator at Alabama A&M University.

Connell Maynor confirmed the move with members of the FOX 54 Sports Team today. Kienus Boulware has been promoted to that role. He served as Defensive Coordinator at Winston Salem under Connell Maynor when the Rams made it to the NCAA Division II National Championship Game in 2012.

In 2021, the Alabama A&M defense gave up the 4th most yards per game in the SWAC. So that prompted Coach Maynor to make player and staff changes.

Recently, The Bulldogs signed a huge class that included 30 football players who play on the defensive side of the ball.

Boulware has the task a turning around a defense that gave up 426 yards per contest in the fall of 2021.With that position of Def. Coordinator now secured, Coach Maynor is looking for a major change on his defense when it comes to results.

"We signed a lot of safeties, corners, linebackers and defensive lineman," says Connell Maynor . "We addressed our needs. We needed those guys on the defensive side of the ball and offensive side of the ball. We feel very confident about the guys we got that joined the program. So they can come in and helps us get to where we need to get to."

Alabama A&M will begin spring football practice in late February.
