Huntsville Veterans Day Parade and other local Veterans Day events, freebies, and specials

Veterans Day is November 11, but that's not the only day with celebrations. Check out parades, events, specials, and freebies in North Alabama.

Statewide:

Alabama State Parks is offering veterans and active military free admission to its parks that charge entrance fees or day-use area fees.

Wills for Warriors: The law firm of McCutcheon & Hamner has continued their semi-annual Wills for Warriors program this November to offer free simple wills, durable powers of attorney, and living wills to all veterans, active service members, first responders and local healthcare workers. In its fifth year, this program kicks off Thursday, November 11 in honor of Veteran’s Day and will continue through the Thanksgiving weekend.

Huntsville, AL:

- Huntsville will honor our country's veterans with a Veterans Day Parade. The parade route includes the Veterans Memorial on Monroe Street. Historically, it's one of the largest in the country.

- Free haircuts for veterans at Taylor's Barbershop for Veterans' Day. In memory of former Barber and Korean War Veteran, Bobby J. Smith, Taylor's Barber Shop and The Empowered Veteran will be hosting our 2nd Annual Free Haircuts for Veterans Day, Thurs Nov 11th.  Call at 256-883-1100 for your appointment.

- Downtown Rescue Mission will be hosting a Veteran’s Day event to honor the homeless men and women veterans in the community. The event is open to the public and begins at 10:30AM in the Mission’s chapel on the main campus at 1400 Evangel Dr. NW, Huntsville, AL 35816.

Each veteran will be recognized and presented with a special gift commemorating their service to our country.  Other event highlights include, patriotic music sung by a local quartet the Rocketeers, and an inspirational message will be delivered by Colonel George Byron Reed.

- Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar is getting ready to salute our nation’s heroes with an honorary special. Bad Daddy’s is offering its All-American Burger with choice of cheese and one of its basic sides (fries, tots, sweet potato fries or chips) for FREE to veterans and active duty military professionals who dine in on Veteran’s Day from 11 am – 3 p.m. Proof of service is required. Dine-in only.

- Color Me Mine paint your own pottery store is offering veterans half off studio fees with valid ID on Veterans Day. The store is located at 1024 MidCity Drive in Huntsville.

Ardmore:

Mildred's in Ardmore will give veterans with ID their meal free on Thursday, Nov. 11.

Hartselle:

Veterans Program begins at 10 AM on November 6 in front of the Old Depot on Railroad St in Beautiful Historic Downtown Hartselle. The parade will follow travel down Main St W to the Morgan Plaza

Decatur:

Calhoun Community College will host its annual Veterans Day Program on November 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. The event will be held in the Student Center on Calhoun’s Huntsville campus, 102 Wynn Dr., Huntsville, AL.

This year’s event will feature Major Randal C. (Casey) Knight, Fire Support Officer, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) of the National Guard, as its guest speaker.

“Each year, the College hosts this observance as a way to recognize not only those members of the Calhoun family who have given back to our country through service in their respective branch of the military, but also to honor those throughout the community who join us for this celebration,” commented Dr. Jimmy Hodges, Calhoun’s Interim President.

In addition to Major Knight’s presentation, the program will include musical selections honoring veterans, performed by the Calhoun Jazz Band and Calhoun Chorale.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Florence:

-Due to the prediction of heavy and steady rain tomorrow morning, the outdoor Veterans Day Program has been canceled. Please join the University of North Alabama in the GUC Performance Hall for an indoor Veterans Day Service at 11:00 am. It is open to the public. Please join us in honoring our Veterans!

Athens:

-Shoney’s offers a FREE All You Care To Eat, Freshly Prepared BREAKFAST BAR for All Military Past and Present on Veterans Day from open until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Moulton:

-Honoring our Veteran's Parade, Thursday, November 11, 6:00 PM Moulton, AL. Please remember our VETERANS. The parade is Thursday, November 11 at 6 p.m. The parade will start at the Lions Club in Moulton and continue through downtown Moulton.
