Southern Fried Film Fest returns to Huntsville

Indie film, music, panels, and activities entertain Huntsville June 9-12.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Indie films, indie music: the Southern Fried Film Festival is a full family-friendly experience featuring movies, sound, and acts from around the world for its 4th year

2022 brings a full festival experience with films, informative panels, live music, and activities for film and fans of all kinds. The 2022 festival opens at the new Orion Amphitheater on Thursday, June 9, and continues at various locations around Huntsville Sunday, June 12.

What is the Southern Fried Film Festival?

Founded in 2018, the Southern Fried Film Festival (SFFF) is an annual event celebrating international films, indie music, and innovative technology. This festival hosts diverse voices from around the world in the areas of film, music, technology, education, and culture.

According to the SFFF website, former Huntsville High School classmates, Trevite Willis and Kelley Reischauer, decided to team up and bring an amazing film experience to their home city of Huntsville, Alabama in 2018. Festival executive director Trevite Willis, an executive producer on the Sundance 2020 award-winning film Forty-Year Old Version, is an award-winning producer committed to courageous storytelling and championing voices of color. 

Dates: June 9 - 12, 2022

Locations: Orion Amphitheater, Salty Nut Brewery, 3rd Circle Cellars

Audience: Filmmakers, Musicians, and local movie goers interested in independent films and local arts

Ticketing options will have a broad range so everyone from film enthusiasts to occasional film goers can participate, with individual tickets starting at $25 for opening night, and $10 per event for the rest of the festival.

Festival organizers are seeking volunteers for hospitality, box office attendants, and event photography.
