Local church serves hot lunch to those in need

Volunteers spent their Saturday afternoon giving out hot lunches.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A local Huntsville church handed out free hot meals on Saturday, June 12. 

Members of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church served about 300 hot lunches to those in need during their drive-thru.

"I think we all have to sacrifice some things, and this was just my way of giving back," member Kanyetta Ammons said.

Volunteers passed out Salisbury steak, mixed veggies and a roll. To keep everyone safe, church members wore masks and gloves.

Each month Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church serves a free meal to the public. They also hand out food boxes to families in need on the third Saturday of every month.
