Limestone Sheriff's Rodeo to return on May 14 for its 39th year

Daily ticket prices for adults are $15 in advance or $17 at the gate. Children ages 12 and under get in for $10. Children ages three and under get in for free.

ATHENS, Ala. — The 39th Limestone Sheriff's Rodeo is set to come back May 14 and May 15.

The rodeo will start at 8 p.m. both nights with gates opening at 6 p.m. The event lineup features bareback bronc riding, calf roping, break-away roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, kids calf scramble, cowgirls barrel racing and bull riding.

Daily ticket prices for adults are $15 in advance or $17 at the gate. Children ages 12 and under get in for $10. Children ages three and under get in for free.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the Limestone County Sheriff's Office.

Organizers say they hope to engage the community with several family-friendly events in the week leading up to the rodeo.

Leading up to the rodeo, a parade will be held on May 8 at 11 a.m. starting at the arena, travelling into Athens and ending back at the arena.

On May 10, organizers are holding a "rodeo kickoff" at 5 p.m. at the arena with kids events and horseback riding.

Head to the Limestone County Courthouse Square on May 11 at 6 p.m. for a street dance and fashion show.

On May 13, a slack competition for team roping contestants and contestant overflow will be held at 8 a.m. Admission is $5 a person.

All proceeds from the rodeo go towards purchasing equipment for the Limestone County Sheriff's Office.
