Alabama NAACP hosts online information, Q&A sessions about COVID vaccines

The meetings will include community leaders and experts in the medical field to answer your questions.

Have questions about the COVID vaccine? The Alabama NAACP is hosting a set of virtual meetings where people can get their questions answered by community leaders and medical experts from the UAB School of Medicine, ADPH, and the Community Engagement Alliance Against COVID-19 Disparities (CEAL).

There are four meetings, each covering different Alabama counties. If you miss your county's meeting, you can join any of the others. In addition, you can send your questions about the COVID-19 vaccine in advance or ask them during the sessions.

"People perish because of lack of knowledge and so we don't want people out there not taking the vaccine because they didn't know or based on something that they heard from, you know, someone that was not an expert or knowledgeable in the information that they were providing," said Benard Simelton, President of the Alabama State Conference of the NAACP.

Facts about the vaccine, relating to safety and general information about the vaccine itself, will be presented by medical experts.

Facts about distribution will be handled by people who work in the Alabama Department of Public Health.

The purpose of these sessions is to keep the public informed enough to make the best choice for themselves when it comes to getting the vaccine.
