St. Stephen's Episcopal Church starts beans and rice ministry to help feed those in need

The church will hand out 3 pounds of uncooked rice and 2 pounds of uncooked pinto beans to people in need of food on the third Saturday of each month.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala — St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is starting a "Beans and Rice" ministry in order to help feed those in need.

The church will hand out 3 pounds of uncooked rice and 2 pounds of uncooked pinto beans to people in need of food on the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

This will be a drive-thru event in order to encourage social distancing and volunteers will be wearing masks. The event will take place at 8020 Whitesburg Drive.

The church said the event is intended to continue even once the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
