The district issued the following statement to the community:

Due to the rising number of COVD-19 cases within Boaz City Schools, as well as the rising number of mandatory quarantines associated with possible exposure, the decision has been made to transition to remote learning for the next few weeks. We will begin remote learning on Tuesday, November 17. We will continue with remote learning through Friday, December 4. We anticipate students returning to school for face to face instruction on Monday, December 7.

Decisions such as these are not easy as there are many things to take into consideration. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance.

Athletics will not be affected by this change. Currently, we have swimming, cheer, and basketball in-season, and those activities (both practices and games) will continue as scheduled.

I want to encourage all of you to continue being proactive in safeguarding your health, as well as that of your family's, during this upcoming holiday season.

We will continue to monitor our district's and community's COVID numbers as we navigate through this period. We will reassess our position during the week of December 4 and will make adjustments as necessary.
