Madison County quarterback Dalen Morris led his team to a 32-28 upset win over Class 4A’s second ranked team: Madison Academy Friday Night.
“Madison Academy has been the standard of football around here for the last several years and certainly we knew we had a big task going in to play those guys and were fortunate to come out with a win,” said Coach Scott Sharp.
“It was a great win for us always a big rivalry. Everybody around here always wanted to play them, but it was also a big region game for us,” said Dalen Morris. “Some people picked them to win state this year and to know that we could do that to one of the best teams in the state is a great feeling.”
Morris threw for five touchdowns to finish with 342 passing yards.
“He is just a quality young man and makes right decisions on the field as well as off the field so we’re just super happy to have him here with us,” said Sharp
The big win gives Morris and his team a little more momentum to carry them through the rest of the season.
“It’s awesome,” says Morris. “Being able to see all the hard work that we put in the summer and out here now in the heat. Seeing it pay off feels good.”
